Wadi Natroun Monasteries Tour

Wadi Natroun Monasteries Tour will let you see the many monasteries destroyed and looted in the past. Four of the ancient fortified monasteries survived, all of which date from the fourth century A.D.

Wadi Natroun Monasteries Tour showcases the remaining monasteries which marked the importance of the region in the ancient times.  Our representative will pick you up from your hotel and you will be transferred via modern air-conditioned car to Wadi El-Natrun. This is the place where Christian monasticism started.  Almost 50 monasteries are situated here but only four have survived until today.  First to visit is the oldest monastery among the four and somehow the most isolated as well, the mosque of Deir al-Baramus.  Then go to Deir Anba Bishoi monastery, which was founded by Bishoi.  He used to be a thief but was converted to Christianity.  His body still lies in the monastery. Before you end the tour of Wadi Natroun Monasteries don’t forget to see the smallest among the four, Deir El-Suryani monastery.
