Sonesta Dahabiya Cruise, Amenities

This Nile Cruise has 8 rooms all in all that six of which are cabins and 2 are elegant suites with a private terrace. The Cabins have smaller sizes that accommodate you. All rooms are Air-conditioned and have its own phone to call out request and other services that it requires. It has a state of the art facilities and amenities and a mini bar. 8 Days/7 Nights: Luxor to Aswan - Starts Every Saturday

Day 1: Saturday - Arrival and Start of the Tour

Upon arrival at the airport or the train station our representative will meet and assist your transfer towards the embarkation area of the Sonesta Dahabiya Nile Cruise. After lunch join a guided tour to the West Bank of the Nile in Luxor. There you can visit famous attractions such as the Valley of the Kings. On 1922, this is the same site were the famed King Tuts tomb was found. You will also have stopovers at the Valley of the Queens, the temple of Medinet Habu and the Colossi of Memnon. Later you will be taken back to the ship to have dinner and overnight rest.

 

Day 2: Sunday - East Bank of the Nile River

Enjoy breakfast before setting sail. You will tour the highlights of Luxor, first stop is the Temple of Karnak dedicated to Amon-Ra that has vast hypostyle hall of over 137 columns. Also visit the constituted Luxor Temple by Amenophis III in the 14th century B.C. and extended by Ramses II. After the tours for the day, you will be taken back to the vessel for dinner and a good night sleep in your cabin aboard.

 

Day 3: Monday

Enjoy breakfast onboard while sailing towards Esna and the wonderful Pillared Hall. After Esna you will be returning onboard for the rest of the day. Enjoy the amenities that only Sonesta Dahabiya Nile Cruise provides.

 

Day 4: Tuesday

Sonesta Dahabiya gently sails to Edfu - enjoy breakfast at your leisure, visit Edfu Temple by horse carriage, one of the largest and most intact of Egypt's monuments. After touring the area including the large bazaars for souvenir shopping, proceed sailing towards the private island "El Fouza" where we will disembark for dinner.

 

Day 5: Wednesday

The third day will start with a great breakfast onboard while sailing to the town of Kom Ombo. This town is home to the unique dual temples of Sobek and Haroeris. Enjoy the rest of the day discovering the many reliefs with the temple before returning onboard the cruise as it sails towards the small island known as Bile where you will be enjoying lunch.

 

Day 6: Thursday

After breakfast onboard, tour the temple of Gebel El Silsila. This is a less visited destination in all of Egypt but it has something to offer. Discover local sights such as the Speos of Hormheb. Dinner is served back at the Sonesta.

 

Day 7: Friday

Feast on a breakfast onboard before exploring the amazing city of Aswan. First stop is the granite quarries, known as the great quarry that provide most of the construction materials during the ancient times. Also in Aswan you can visit the Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis. This temple was rescued from the rising waters of the Lake Nasser. Return onboard for dinner and overnight stay.

 

Day 8: Saturday

For the end of your tour, enjoy breakfast then complete disembarkation. Have some time for personal shopping and sightseeing before transferring via air-conditioned vehicle to the airport or the train station.

8 Days/7 Nights: Aswan to  Luxor - Starts Every Saturday

Day 1: Saturday

Embarkation in Aswan for a relaxing week sailing the Nile on a luxuriously appointed Dahabiya. Overnight, the ship moors on the Nile banks of Aswan

Day 2: Sunday

Today you will visit the Aswan High Dam (completed in 1971); the Old Dam (completed in 1902). You will also visit the Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis, a structure rescued from the rising waters of Lake Nasser at the time of the High Dam's construction. Overnight moored in Aswan.

 

Day 3: Monday

Morning sail to Kom Ombo to see the Ptolemaic temple dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon-headed Horus, god of the morning sun. Overnight moored beside a Nile island.

 

Day 4: Tuesday

This morning you will sail to Edfu to visit the wonderfully preserved Temple of Edfu. Overnight moored beside an island.

 

Day 5: Wednesday

Today will be a leisurely day. After breakfast, commence sailing to Esna, and onwards to Luxor, where your Dahabiya moors overnight.

Day 6: Thursday

Excursion to the West Bank to visit the great burial places of the Pharaohs - the Valley of the Kings - where Howard Carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamen in 1922. Continue to the adjacent Valley of the Queens, Medinet Habu Temple and the Colossi of Memnon. Overnight moored in Luxor.

 

Day 7: Friday

This morning you will visit the magnificent temple complex of Amon-Ra at Karnak, with its vast hypostyle hall of 137 columns, followed by the imposing 28th Dynasty Luxor Temple. Overnight moored in Luxor.

 

Day 8: Saturday

Breakfast aboard the Dahabiya followed by disembarkation.
