Day 1: Your Pilgrimage Starts in Egypt
Our representative will meet you at Cairo International Airport. A private air-conditioned vehicle will transfer you to your hotel for the night. Tomorrow, your Christian Tour of Egypt starts.
Day 2: First Milestone in Old Coptic Cairo
You will first proceed to the famous churches in Coptic Cairo. These include the Hanging Church, where you can see the nave suspending from the old Babylon Fortress. Others include the Church of St. Barbara, the 4th Century Church of Abu Serba or St. Sergius and Bacchus.
After this, you will be taken to the Jewish Synagogue and Coptic Museum. Your first day will end with you going back to the hotel to spend the night in Cairo.
Day 3: Traverse the Desert of Wadi Natroun
Your next part of Christian Tour of Egypt is through the desert. As you travel to the Coptic Monasteries, you can enjoy some sights in the Wadi Natroun desert. Built when Macarius the Great settled in AD 340, the Baramus Monastery is a worth site to visit and it is still inhabited by monks. After your desert adventure, you will return back to the hotel to spend the night in Cairo.
Day 4: Monasteries by the Red Sea
To continue your Christian Tour of Egypt, you will take a visit to the Coptic Monastery of St. Antony and St. Paul. These lie at the foot of the Red Sea Mountains found in the Eastern Desert. Still occupied to this day, you can learn some more history of St. Anthony, which was the founder of Christian Monasticism and St. Paul, one of the first hermits. These monasteries were founded in the 4th and 5th centuries, respectively. After your tour, you will go back to your hotel to spend the night once more.
Day 5: Church of the Holy Virgin
Your next stop is the ever grand Church of the Holy Virgin. It has three cupolas on the banks of the Nile located at Maadi. As you continue the your, you can visit the Monastery of St. Simon or Simeon the Tanner. This is located in the outskirts of Cairo near the Mokattam Mountain. He was a 10th century saint whose faith moved the mountain, according to stories. After this part of your Christian tour of Egypt, you will be taken back to the hotel for an overnight stay in Cairo.
Day 6: A Trip to the St. Menas Monastery
Located near Alexandria, you can visit the recently built monastery dedicated to the martyr St. Menas at Maryut. This was built on top of a 4th century shrine, known as the “Lourdes of the Ancient World.” Including this site, there are many excavated churches for you to explore. After your archaeological Christian Tour, you will go back to your hotel to spend the night once again.
Day 7: Visit the grand Coptic Cathedral
With the different Coptic Chuches in Egypt, you can really tap into the beauty and architecture they have. You will see the 10th century Church of the Holy Virgin in Haret El Roum. Also, you will visit the Coptic Cathedral found in the Abbassia Area. This is the last stop in your Christian Tour through Coptic Egypt. You will be brought back to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 8: Renewed Enlightenment to Bring Home
After having breakfast, you can go back home with an enlightened spirit—journeying through the Christian tour of Egypt. You will be taken to the Cairo International Airport for departure.
